Viperhulls was founded by an Australian RC boating enthusiast, Tony Simpson back in 2003. He has been building boats from scratch for the last 36 years. His first boat at the age of 10 he built an Aeromarine platypus air boat with a OS Max 10 nitro engine and from there he progressed to a 36 inch multi hull with a OS Max 21. From there started experimenting with Kawasaki motor bike engines and that's when he designed the 60 inch GT hull to accommodate the KX60 engines. Together with his father Col a carpenter and boat fitter, they worked on the plug together and that was their first project together. It took quite a while to get the KX60 engines to perform properly but now with the right carb and ignition they are screamers and are very reliable. Since then products include 50 and 57 inches Viper Apache, the newly designed 47 inch Simcraft, 52 and 65 inches Viper Racing Series Cat , 60 inch GT mono and 60 inch Stealth and the 72 inch Fountain. Many of his boat hulls have been used at racing events around Australia and other parts of the world. The offshore hulls are designed after life-size boats, where as the race mono and riggers are his brainchild. Tony's attention to detail does not allow him to mass produce. Most of the boats in this website are made to order with the option for his clients to choose their own colours, whether metallic or gel coat finish. All the hulls now come with fibreglass engine rails and not timber and also the transom are full fibreglass as well so there is no problem with the timber rotting out. I have been taught to fibre glass by one of Australia's predominant canoe and boat builders and not just a back yarder like other so called rc boat builders in Queensland.
